Cal 24

Description

The Cal 24, designed by C. William Lapworth and built by Jensen Marine (Cal Yachts) from 1967 to the early 1970s, is a compact, trailerable sailboat intended for day sailing, club racing, and short coastal cruises. An evolution of the Cal 20 and Cal 21, it offers improved interior space and stability while retaining the simplicity, affordability, and lively performance of earlier Cal designs. Approximately 500 units were built, though exact numbers are not well-documented due to Cal Yachts’ closure in the late 1980s. Its lightweight fiberglass construction, shoal draft, and trailer ability make it ideal for lakes, bays, and shallow coastal waters, appealing to beginners, small families, and budget-conscious racers.
