Cal 2-34

Description

The Cal 34, designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates and built by Cal Boats (under Lear Siegler Marine) from 1976 to 1978, is an American cruiser-racer sailboat tailored for coastal cruising and club racing under PHRF (typical rating ~150-165). An evolution of earlier Cal designs, it blends performance, comfort, and seaworthiness for small families or couples, featuring a solid fiberglass hull, a fixed fin keel, and a spade rudder. Approximately 100-150 units were produced, making it a relatively rare model. It’s praised for its balanced handling, spacious interior, and robust construction but requires maintenance on aging systems like the Yanmar diesel engine, rigging, and balsa-cored deck.
