Cal 27 T/2 (1/2 Ton)

Description

The Cal 1/2 Ton (also known as the Cal T/2 or Cal T/2 Tonner) is a classic American IOR half-ton racer designed by C. William Lapworth. Built by Jensen Marine (Cal Yachts) from 1972 to 1974, approximately 179 hulls were produced. It's essentially a modified version of the Cal 27 hull, with deck and rig alterations to meet the International Offshore Rule (IOR) 1/2-ton rating for competitive racing, featuring a lightweight fin keel with spade rudder for agile handling, solid hand-laid fiberglass construction, and a masthead sloop rig. Renowned for its speed and responsiveness in club racing or coastal day sailing, with a lively ride in 10–20 knots and surprising stability for its era, it's a fun vintage performer.
