Cabo Rico 38
Description
The Cabo Rico 38 is a renowned blue water cruising sailboat designed by W.I.B. Crealock and built by Cabo Rico Yachts in Costa Rica. Introduced in 1977, it quickly gained a reputation as a "serious cruising boat for serious cruisers" due to its timeless design, robust construction, and seaworthiness. Often described as having a "soft motion" in heavy seas, it features a classic clipper bow with a 3-foot bowsprit, low sheer line, and counter stern, evoking the aesthetics of legendary cruisers like the Westsail 32 or Bermuda 40. Approximately 200 units were produced through 2008, with variations including trunk cabin, pilothouse, cutter, and ketch rigs. The company ceased operations in 2010 but there were rumors of revival around 2014; as of late 2024, used models remain popular on the market.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
