Bristol 41.1
Description
The Bristol 41.1 is a classic bluewater-capable cruising sailboat built by Bristol Yachts in Bristol, Rhode Island, from 1981 to around 1994. It's highly regarded for its solid construction, comfortable motion, and offshore credentials, designed by renowned naval architect Ted Hood (with input from Dieter Empacher on some aspects). This model blends performance with traditional styling, featuring a center cockpit (most common) or rarer aft cockpit layout, and often a keel/centerboard configuration for versatility in shallow waters like the Bahamas while maintaining good upwind ability when the board is down. It's a favorite among serious cruisers for its heavy build quality, gentle ride in heavy seas, and spacious interior—often described as "heavily built" with excellent woodwork and thoughtful layout.
