Bowman 45 (Paine)

Description

The Bowman 45 is a premium British bluewater ocean-cruising yacht, known for its exceptional build quality, seaworthiness, and luxurious yet practical accommodations. It's a semi-custom design produced by Bowman Yachts (later under Rival Bowman and then Rustler Yachts in Falmouth, UK), with hulls built to high standards (often Lloyd's spec). There are two main eras/variants: Earlier models (1970s–1980s, e.g., Holman & Pye design): Heavier displacement classics, often from the original Bowman era in Emsworth. Later models (late 1990s–2000s, e.g., Chuck Paine design): More modern interpretations, derived from the Morris 44 but adapted for Bowman/Rustler production, with refinements like added draft and freeboard for better volume and performance. These are rare, handcrafted yachts (small production numbers), favored by serious offshore sailors for circumnavigations, extended cruising, or liveaboard use. They're not high-volume production boats, so each often has custom interiors (e.g., owner-specified layouts, high-end joinery like teak).
