Bolger Single-Handed Schooner (His And Hers)

Description

A classic small boat design by the renowned naval architect Phil Bolger (1920–2009). This 19-foot-6-inch (5.94 m) double-ended sharpie schooner—often simply called the Single-Handed Schooner—was created in response to a reader's letter in the November 1987 issue of Small Boat Journal (Issue 33). The reader, Tony Groves, requested plans for a pair of seaworthy, single-handed schooners: one for him and one for his wife, hence the playful "His and Hers" moniker. Bolger's response was a versatile, affordable design featured in his book Boats with an Open Mind (International Marine, 1994), emphasizing simplicity, speed, and ease of construction for amateur builders.
