Bolger Gypsy
Description
The Bolger Gypsy (also known simply as Gypsy) is a classic "Instant Boat" design by the legendary American naval architect Philip C. Bolger (design #436 in some listings). Introduced in the late 1970s/early 1980s and popularized through Harold "Dynamite" Payson's Build the New Instant Boats book, it's a lightweight, minimalist 15-foot daysailer/utility skiff that's beloved for its extreme simplicity, low cost, elegant lines, and surprising performance as a row/sail/outboard boat. Like Teal (#310) and Surf (#287), it's built using tack-and-tape (or stitch-and-glue) plywood construction with no complex framing or lofting — making it one of Bolger's most accessible and successful amateur builds. Many first-time builders complete a functional hull in weeks, and it's often praised as a "graceful, fast" sharpie-style daysailer.
