Beneteau R/C 35 (First 35)

Description

The Beneteau R/C 35 (Racer/Cruiser 35), also known as the First 35 in some markets, is a classic masthead sloop designed by Jean Berret and built by Beneteau in France in 1980. As an IOR 3/4-ton racer-cruiser, it was engineered for competitive club racing and coastal cruising, featuring a fin keel with spade rudder for agile upwind performance and a spacious fiberglass hull for family weekends. Only about 50–100 units were produced in its single year, making it a rare find today—many survivors are raced in vintage fleets or restored for day sailing. The design shares its hull with the Idylle 11.50 cruiser, emphasizing seaworthiness with a moderate displacement and generous sail area.
