Beneteau First R/C 32 7/8 R
Description
The Beneteau First 32, marketed as the R/C 32 (Racer/Cruiser) in the U.S. with the "7/8 R" denoting its 7/8 fractional rig variant, is a classic fractional sloop designed by Jean Berret and built by Beneteau in France from 1980 to 1984. As an early performer in Beneteau's First line, it was optimized for IOR 3/4-ton racing while offering practical coastal cruising, featuring a fin keel for agility and a generous sail plan for light-air prowess. Approximately 200–300 units were produced, many still racing in PHRF fleets or as agile family day sailors. The 7/8 fractional rig enhances upwind performance and simplifies handling compared to full masthead setups. Owners appreciate its "stable yet roomy" design and spacious interior for its size
