Beneteau Oceanis 500
Description
The Beneteau Oceanis 500 is a spacious aft-cockpit cruiser designed by Philippe Briand and built by Beneteau in France from 1986 to 1991. As a flagship of the early Oceanis line, it was engineered for family cruising and extended coastal passages, featuring a wide beam for stability, a bulbous bow for a soft entry, and a masthead sloop rig for easy handling. Approximately 100 units were produced, many in charter fleets, and it's renowned for its voluminous interior and balanced performance—owners describe it as a "proven bluewater cruiser" that's comfortable and ready to sail. Variants include a deep fin keel (6.4 ft draft) for better upwind ability and 3- or 4-cabin layouts for charters.
