Description
The Beneteau First 53F5 is a high-performance cruiser-racer masthead sloop designed by Bruce Farr (Farr Yacht Design) and built by Beneteau in France from 1990 to 1993. As a flagship of the First line during the IMS/IMS era, it was engineered for competitive offshore racing (e.g., Admiral's Cup influences) while providing luxurious accommodations for bluewater cruising, featuring a fin keel with bulb for stability and a generous sail plan for light-air speed. Only about 20–30 units were produced, making it a rare collector's item today—many survivors are raced in vintage fleets or restored for coastal passages. The "F5" denotes its Farr 5th-generation hull optimization for balanced power and elegance.
