Description
The Beneteau First 35s5 Tall Rig is a high-performance French cruiser-racer sailboat designed by Jean Berret of Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design with interior styling by Philippe Starck, and built by Beneteau from 1988 to 1992, with approximately 450 hulls produced in France. Measuring 35 feet 6 inches in length overall (with a waterline length of 29 feet 6 inches and a beam of 11 feet 10 inches), it features a lightweight fiberglass hull—solid laminate below the waterline and balsa-cored deck—available in deep fin keel (6 feet 1 inch draft), standard fin (5 feet 3 inches), or wing keel (4 feet 9 inches) configurations, with the Tall Rig option increasing mast height by 2 feet and sail area to approximately 670 sq ft (SA/D ~19.5) for enhanced light-air speed and upwind power. The interior, celebrated for Starck’s minimalist elegance with curved joinery and light ash wood, comfortably sleeps six in three private cabins: a forward V-berth, aft double, U-shaped galley, spacious saloon with convertible settees, navigation station, and enclosed head with shower.
