Beneteau First 305
Description
The Beneteau First 305 is a classic French cruiser-racer sailboat designed by Jean-Marie Finot of Groupe Finot and built by Beneteau from 1984 to 1989, with around 465 units produced in France and the U.S. With a length overall of 30 feet 6 inches (LOA) and a waterline length of 26 feet 11 inches, it features a lightweight fiberglass hull with solid laminate below the waterline and balsa-cored deck, available in deep fin keel (5 feet 5 inches draft), shoal draft (4 feet 5 inches), or wing keel (4 feet 6 inches) versions for balanced performance in varied conditions. Below deck, it offers comfortable accommodations for six, including a private aft cabin, forward V-berth, U-shaped galley, nav station, enclosed head with shower, and a bright saloon with folding table and convertible settees. Its fractional sloop rig, responsive helm, and moderate sail area-displacement ratio deliver excellent upwind performance, stability, and ease of handling—ideal for family cruising or PHRF club racing.
