Beneteau Cabochard
Description
The Beneteau Cabochard is a compact, trailerable fractional sloop designed by Groupe Finot and Jacques Fauroux (with naval input from André Beneteau) and built by Beneteau in France starting in 1974 as part of their early heritage lineup (1965–1981). Marketed as a "stubborn but good-hearted" day sailer ("cabochard" means headstrong in French), it's bigger than it appears, offering surprising seafaring qualities in a lightweight package for fishing, jaunts, or beginner racing. With a high freeboard and substantial keel for its size, it provides safe, stable behavior at sea despite its modest dimensions. Production was limited (exact numbers unknown, but rare today), making it a collector's item for vintage Beneteau enthusiasts. Variants are minimal, but some feature outboard wells or custom cockpits.
