Beneteau 32 (R/C 32)

Description

The Beneteau First 32 is a classic fractional sloop (with masthead options) designed by Jean Berret and built by Beneteau in France from 1980 to 1984. As an early performer in Beneteau's First line, it was tailored for club racing and coastal cruising, offering agile handling in a lightweight fiberglass hull with a fin keel for upwind prowess. Approximately 100–150 units were produced, many still racing in PHRF fleets or serving as capable day sailors/weekenders. Also marketed as the R/C 32 in the U.S., it's praised for its "lively yet stable" qualities and surprising interior space, making it a fun "first big boat" for couples or small crews. Variants include a shoal-draft keel (4.42 ft) for shallower waters and tall-mast options for light-air regions.
