Beneteau 25 Platu

Description

The Beneteau 25 Platu (also known as the Platu 25 or Bénéteau 25) is a high-performance one-design racing sailboat designed by Farr Yacht Design (led by Bruce Farr) and built by Beneteau from 1992 to around 2015, with additional production by McDell Marine in New Zealand. Over 500 units were produced, making it a popular choice for club racing and one-design fleets worldwide. Recognized by World Sailing (formerly ISAF) since 2006, it supports international championships and has active class associations in Europe, Asia, and Russia. This "thoroughbred" racer emphasizes speed, simplicity, and equalized competition, with a sleek hull featuring a straight stem, bulbous bow, and tight fin keel for planing and agility. It's unforgiving—requiring precise crew work—but rewards with exhilarating performance, often described as a "fast beast" that teaches sailors through feel. Unlike cruiser-racers like the Beneteau First 25.7, the Platu 25 prioritizes minimalism for racing, with a spartan interior suited to day sails or short overnights rather than family cruising.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
