Description
The Barberis Show 30 (also known simply as the Show 30) is a compact, capable racer-cruiser designed by French naval architect Alain Jezequel, built by Cantieri Barberis (an Italian yard specializing in the "Show" series of fiberglass sailboats), and first introduced in 1979 (as an updated/evolved version of the earlier Show 29). Production continued into the 1980s (likely through the mid-to-late decade), with an estimated moderate number of hulls built (dozens to possibly low hundreds, based on surviving examples and regional popularity in Italy and Europe). Outstanding characteristics include its solid fiberglass construction for durability and low maintenance, masthead sloop rig with a generous sail plan (emphasizing a large genoa and smaller main for excellent light-air performance and balanced handling), seaworthy and stable behavior suitable for coastal cruising or club racing, relatively spacious accommodations for its size (good headroom, berths for 4–6, and practical layout for family or short overnights), forgiving nature as a balanced, easy-to-sail boat (often compared favorably to contemporaries like the Comet 9.10 in the Italian market), and a reputation as an affordable, reliable Italian classic
