Whitehall 12

Description

The Whitehall 12 is a 12-foot clinker-built (lapstrake) Whitehall rowboat, a classic design inspired by the legendary 19th-century New York Harbor workboats. The Whitehall is hailed as one of the most elegant and efficient rowing boats ever designed — fast, stable, and graceful, originally used to ferry people, goods, and pilots to ships in busy harbors. The 12-foot size makes it a compact, portable tender or recreational rower, ideal for solo or duo use on lakes, rivers, or calm coastal waters (though purists note true "classic" Whitehalls start around 14' for the full wineglass transom and hollow aft sections).
