Baltic 50 Fractional
Description
The Baltic 50 (often specified as the Baltic 50 Fractional or Baltic 50 SC when referring to its primary racing-oriented configuration) is a high-performance racer-cruiser designed by Bill Tripp (Tripp Design) with styling and interior by R&J Design (Baltic's in-house team), built by Baltic Yachts in Finland, and first introduced in 1998. Production continued until around 2007, resulting in a total of 11 hulls built as a limited semi-custom series that emphasized advanced composite construction and dual-purpose capabilities. Outstanding characteristics include its lightweight yet extremely stiff carbon fiber or composite build (often with Corecell sandwich and epoxy resins for superior strength-to-weight ratio), fractional sloop rig for responsive handling, excellent upwind performance and speed (IMS-optimized for grand prix-level racing while offering cruiser comfort), spacious and elegantly appointed interior with polished finishes and good accommodations for family or offshore use, exceptional Finnish craftsmanship that delivers top-tier quality and seaworthiness, and a lasting reputation as a sophisticated, fast, and versatile modern classic—highly regarded for blending race-boat agility with refined cruising appeal in the used market.
