Balboa 20

Description

The Balboa 20 is an American trailerable sailboat designed by renowned small-craft architect Lyle C. Hess (in collaboration with Richard Arthur) and built by Arthur Marine and later Coastal Recreation, Inc., in Newport Beach, California. First introduced in 1967 and produced through the mid-1980s, approximately 300–400 hulls were constructed, making it a popular entry-level cruiser-racer from the golden age of fiberglass production boats. It's celebrated for its sturdy, seaworthy construction and classic lines, with a full-length keel (swing or fixed options) providing stability for coastal cruising, daysailing, or even short offshore hops by experienced sailors. The fractional sloop rig is simple and forgiving, ideal for beginners or short-handed crews (2–4 people), and its compact size (under 2,000 lb. total weight) allows easy trailering with a standard vehicle. Variants include the fixed-keel version for deeper-water sailing and the raised-deck Ensenada 20 (or RK-20) for improved headroom and deck access.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
