Balboa 30

Description

The B-32 (also known as the B Boats B-32 or Beiley B-32) is an American high-performance racing sailboat designed by Leif Beiley as a development of the successful B-25 sportboat. Built by B Boats in Long Beach, California, starting in 1995, only 14 examples were produced before production ended, making it a rare and sought-after one-design racer. It was awarded Sailing World's Best PHRF/Sportboat of the Year in 1996 and has a strong racing pedigree, with wins in major regattas. Optimized for Southern California conditions (8–15 knot winds and ocean waves), the design prioritizes all-around performance, affordability, and simplicity without exotic materials—using fiberglass construction for an ultralight, stiff hull. It's trailerable to some extent but excels as a keelboat for club racing, MORC, or PHRF events (typically rating around 90–100, adjustable with mods like a full roach main). Suited for short-handed crews (2–5 people), it offers responsive handling and speed in moderate winds but can be tender in heavy air due to its low displacement/length ratio. While primarily a racer, it can handle coastal daysailing with an outboard auxiliary.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
