Argie 10

Description

The Argie 10 is a compact, versatile 3-in-1 sailing dinghy (sail, row, or motor) designed by South African naval architect Dudley Dix in the late 1980s as a larger sister to the Dixi Dinghy. Commissioned by the Argus Newspaper Group for a DIY series feature, it was named after the "Argie Boys" (newspaper vendors) and intended as an accessible, home-buildable project using stitch-and-glue plywood construction. Like its sibling the Argie 15, it's a lightweight, open boat emphasizing family fun, training, and utility as a yacht tender, but in a more portable size. Thousands of Dix designs have been built globally, with the Argie 10 popular among amateurs for its simplicity and low cost—requiring just three sheets of 6mm plywood for the entire hull, including buoyancy compartments, rudder, and daggerboard.
