Aquarius 21
Description
The Aquarius 21 is a compact, trailerable sailboat designed as a recreational cruiser for day sailing, weekend trips, and beginner use. Introduced in 1969 by American designer Peter Barrett, it was produced by Coastal Recreation, Inc. (USA) until 1977. The design emphasizes simplicity, affordability, and ease of transport, making it a popular entry-level choice for aspiring sailors. It's built predominantly of fiberglass with wood trim, features a keel/centerboard hull for shallow-water versatility, and is often compared to the more common Catalina 22. Later variants include the Aquarius Pelican (from ~1978) and Balboa 21, which share the same core design with minor modifications like a transom-mounted rudder or updated rigging. The boat is rigged as a fractional sloop, providing straightforward handling without advanced features like spinnakers in the standard setup.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
