Andromedia 48
Description
The Andromeda 48 (also known as Andromeda 48 or sometimes listed with slight variations like Andromeda version 48') is a classic bluewater cruising ketch designed by renowned American naval architect Bruce Bingham in the mid-1970s. Bingham, best known for the diminutive but legendary Flicka 20 pocket cruiser, created the Andromeda 48 as a larger, capable offshore vessel emphasizing seaworthiness, comfort for extended cruising, and solid construction. Only a very limited number were built (estimates suggest just a handful, with some sources noting 2 boats molded in Korea and finished in the USA under supervision). It's closely related to another Bingham design called the Christina (similar lines and specs). Construction was primarily ferro-cement (a composite of cement over steel mesh armature), which was popular in the 1970s for amateur or custom builds due to low cost and durability claims, though it requires skilled application to avoid issues like rust or cracking.
