Alumacraft S-12
Description
The Alumacraft S-12 (also called AlumaCraft S-12 or Alpex by Aluma Craft Model S-12) is a vintage fiberglass daysailer/board boat from the late 1960s to early 1970s, produced by Alpex Corporation (associated with or branded under Alumacraft, the well-known aluminum boat maker from Minneapolis, MN). It's a simple, lightweight Sunfish-like sailboat with a high-point gunter rig (nearly triangular sail, similar to a gaff but with a short yard/boom in sleeves), designed for easy handling, fun on small lakes/ponds, beginner sailing, or beach launching. These were marketed as affordable, car-toppable sailboats—compact, stable enough for casual use, and often rigged with basic hardware. It's not a modern production model (Alumacraft today focuses on aluminum fishing/jon boats like the 1232 or 1236 series), but a retro fiberglass classic from their brief foray into sailboats around 1968–1970s.
