Alubat Ovni 445
Description
The Alubat Ovni 445 is a premium French aluminum bluewater cruiser built by Alubat (Chantier Naval Alubat) in Les Sables-d'Olonne, France, from around 2008 to the mid-2010s (production ended as it evolved into models like the Ovni 450). Designed by naval architect Marc Lombard, it's part of the iconic Ovni ("OVNI" for lifting keel aluminum) series—renowned as the "4x4 of the seas" for exceptional versatility, durability, and shoal-draft capability. These boats excel in world cruising, high-latitude sailing, coral atolls (e.g., French Polynesia), or beaching, thanks to the hydraulically operated lifting centerboard (ballasted steel, ~540–8212 lb depending on source) and twin rudders. Key features include a multi-chine aluminum hull (AlMg 4.5 Mn alloy for strength/corrosion resistance), long waterline for good performance in light airs, stiff sailing qualities, and spacious, light/airy interiors (more volume than comparable fiberglass boats due to thinner hulls).
