Aloha 26 / 27 / 8.2 / 271
Description
The Aloha 8.2 (also known as the Aloha 27 in imperial measurements) is a classic Canadian pocket cruiser-racer sailboat designed by renowned American naval architect Robert Perry. Introduced in 1980 as part of the metric renaming trend in Canada, it's essentially an evolution of the earlier Aloha 26/27 series, sharing the same hull mold with minor rig and interior variations. Built by Ouyang Boat Works in Whitby, Ontario, this masthead sloop features a fin keel (with optional shoal draft) and spade rudder for responsive handling, making it suitable for coastal cruising, day sailing, and light club racing. With a sleek profile, generous sail area, and solid fiberglass construction, it's praised for its speed in light winds, spacious interior for its size, and seaworthiness in moderate conditions. Production ran from 1980 to around 1984, with approximately 188 units built, contributing to its cult following among Perry enthusiasts. L.O.A.: 26' 9" (8.15 m). L.W.L.: 22' 2" (6.76 m). Beam: 9' 6" (2.90 m). Draft: 4' 4" (1.32 m). Displacement: 5200 lbs. (2359 kg.). Ballast: 2000 lbs. (907 kg.).
