Description
The Alo 33 (or Alö 33), designed by Lars Olsson and built by Alö Yachts in Sweden from 1976 to 1982 with approximately 80 hulls produced, is a high-performance fractional-sloop cruiser-racer featuring a sleek, hand-laid fiberglass hull with a narrow 9.84-foot beam, 33-foot LOA, 26.9-foot LWL, and a standard 5.58-foot fin keel carrying 3,527 pounds of lead ballast in an 8,818-pound displacement for a stiff, responsive feel and a ballast ratio near 40%. Its tall 7/8 fractional rig delivers 517 square feet of sail area for a lively SA/D of ~19.5 and PHRF ratings around 120–138, excelling upwind in 12–20 knots while remaining light-air capable with a large overlapping genoa. The minimalist teak interior offers standing headroom near 6 feet, berths for five (V-berth forward, saloon settees, quarter berth), a compact galley, enclosed head, and small nav station—prioritizing sailing efficiency over volume.
