Allied Luders 33
Description
The Allied Luders 33 (also known as the Luders 33) is a classic American fiberglass sailboat designed by the renowned naval architect Alfred E. (Bill) Luders and built by the Allied Boat Company in Catskill, New York, from 1966 to around 1974. Approximately 107 hulls were produced, making it one of Allied's more successful models in its era. It embodies the CCA (Cruising Club of America) rule influences of the time: long overhangs, a narrow beam, graceful sheer, and a full keel for seaworthiness. Primarily rigged as a masthead sloop (some yawls exist), it's praised for its sturdy construction—thick hand-laid fiberglass typical of Allied's overbuilt reputation—and timeless aesthetics. Owners and reviewers describe it as a capable coastal/offshore cruiser with good manners in heavy weather, excellent directional stability, and a comfortable motion, though it's not a light-air flyer and can be tender initially before stiffening up.
