Alerion 26
Description
The Alerion 26, also known as the Alerion Express 26, is a compact, elegant fiberglass daysailer designed by Carl Schumacher for Alerion Yachts, introduced in 2006 as a downsized evolution of the Alerion Express 28, drawing inspiration from Nathanael Herreshoff’s 1912 Alerion III. With approximately 50–100 units built as of 2025, it features a fractional rig with a patented Hoyt Jib Boom for effortless single-handing, a bulb keel, spade rudder, and classic lines (raked stem, graceful sheer). Powered by an optional outboard (4–6 hp in a well) or small inboard diesel (Yanmar 10 hp), with tiller steering, it’s optimized for day sailing and light coastal cruising, offering a spacious cockpit and minimal cabin.
