Alberg 37 Yawl
Description
The Alberg 37 Yawl, designed by Carl Alberg and built by Whitby Boat Works (formerly Ouyang Boat Works) in Canada from 1967 to 1988 with approximately 250 hulls produced, is a legendary 37-foot full-keel bluewater cruiser featuring a 10.25-foot beam, 24-foot waterline, and 5.5-foot draft with 6,400 pounds of encapsulated lead ballast in a 16,700-pound displacement for exceptional stability, a comfort ratio of 35–40, and a capsize screening value under 1.70. Its classic yawl rig—main 370 sq ft, mizzen 100 sq ft, total ~600 sq ft—delivers a moderate SA/D of ~15.5 and PHRF ~210–220, prioritizing seakindly motion, heavy-weather balance, and effortless short-handed sailing over speed. The hand-laid solid fiberglass hull, long keel with cutaway forefoot, and skeg-hung rudder ensure bulletproof durability and straight tracking, while the warm teak interior offers 6’3” headroom, sleeping 5–6 across a V-berth, quarter berth, and convertible saloon, plus a galley, enclosed head, and nav station.
