Alberg 22
Description
The Alberg 22 is a classic Canadian trailerable sailboat designed by the renowned Swedish-American naval architect Carl Alberg, known for his emphasis on seaworthiness and traditional lines in early fiberglass designs. First built in 1970 by Nye Yachts in Belleville (later Bloomfield), Ontario, Canada, it was produced until around 1982, with approximately 180 examples completed. This compact full-keel cruiser is ideal for coastal and inland waters, day sailing, or short overnights, offering stability and simplicity for solo sailors or small families. It's often praised for its robust construction and forgiving handling, though it's not designed for high-speed racing or extended blue water voyages. The design reflects Alberg's philosophy of prioritizing safety and durability, similar to his earlier works like the Pearson Triton.
