Adventure Island

Description

The Hobie Mirage Adventure Island (often called the "AI" or simply Adventure Island) is a versatile, multi-mode watercraft designed by Hobie Cat Company as a sailing trimaran kayak. Introduced in 2006, it combines the hands-free propulsion of Hobie's patented MirageDrive pedal system with a deployable sail rig, making it a hybrid kayak, pedal boat, trimaran sailboat, and fishing platform. Its fold-out amas (outriggers) provide exceptional stability for sailing or standing to fish, while the retractable daggerboard prevents leeway for efficient upwind performance. Built for adventurers, it's ideal for solo coastal cruising, fishing, or exploration in winds up to 20 knots—capable of speeds over 10 knots under sail. The roller-furling mainsail is user-friendly for quick setup, and optional accessories like the spinnaker kit enhance downwind fun. With a rotomolded polyethylene hull, it's durable, trailerable, and weighs just 150 lb. for easy transport. Over 10,000 units sold, it's a staple for Hobie enthusiasts seeking "sail, pedal, or paddle" versatility.
