Adhara 30

Description

The Adhara 30 is a performance-oriented fiberglass cruiser-racer designed by the legendary Doug Peterson and built by Dencho Marine (a short-lived Canadian yard) between 1985 and 1986. Peterson, renowned for his IOR-era racing yachts like the One Tonner Ganbare (1973) and designs for the America's Cup, crafted the Adhara 30 as a compact, lightweight blue water-capable boat with a focus on speed and handling. Only a handful (~5–10) were produced, making it rare and collectible today. Its narrow hull, deep fin keel, and fractional sloop rig deliver agile upwind performance and stability for coastal or offshore passages, often compared to scaled-down Peterson 40s. The design emphasizes simplicity for short-handed sailing, with a nod to the era's racer-cruiser hybrids—fast enough for club races but practical for weekends aboard.
