18' 8" Mackinaw Boat
Description
The 18' 8" Mackinaw Boat is a historically accurate scaled-down version of the traditional Great Lakes fishing boats that dominated Lakes Michigan and Superior in the late 1800s. Designed by Nelson Zimmer and featured in WoodenBoat magazine #23 (July 1978), this design represents a "mini Lake Michigan workboat" that captures the seakeeping abilities and speed characteristics of the original 26-foot vessels in a more manageable package.
