Amf2100

Description

The AMF 2100 is an American trailerable sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Ted Hood as a cruiser-racer, emphasizing performance in light to moderate winds while providing surprising interior space for weekend overnights or day sailing. Built by the Alcort division of AMF, Inc. (known for smaller boats like the Sunfish) from 1980 to 1983, it was marketed as a step up from board boats, bridging the gap between racers like the J/24 and family trailerables. The flush-deck design with raised cabin top maximizes headroom and volume below, making it roomier than contemporaries like the Catalina 22, though its high freeboard gives a somewhat tender feel. Production was limited (fewer than 200 units, based on owner estimates), partly due to competition from the established J/24, and it's now out of production but available used for $2,000–$6,000 in sail away condition, often requiring updates to rigging or keel mechanisms. Positive flotation makes it unsinkable, and it's praised in early reviews for its speed and ease, with one Yachting reviewer buying one after a test sail.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
