Aloha 28 / 8.5
Description
The Aloha 28 (also known as the Aloha 8.5 in metric) is a Canadian coastal cruiser-racer sailboat designed by Edward S. Brewer and Robert Walstrom, built by Ouyang Boat Works in Whitby, Ontario, from 1972 to approximately 1988. This masthead sloop combines a sleek, performance-oriented hull with a practical interior, making it ideal for family cruising, day sailing, and club racing in protected waters like the Great Lakes, Long Island Sound, or coastal bays. With a fin keel and spade rudder, it offers responsive handling and good speed for its size, though it's not a true blue water boat due to its moderate displacement and stability. An estimated 200–300 units were produced, reflecting its popularity as a budget-friendly, well-built option during the Canadian sailboat boom of the 1970s–1980s. L.W.L.: 24' 6" (7.46 m). Beam: 9' 5"(2.87 m). Draft: 4' 4" (1.32 m). Displacement: 6750 lbs. (3062 kg.). Ballast: 2750 lbs. (1247 kg.).

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
